I would like to thank our September’s speaker who was born in County Cork, Ireland and now lives in Massachusetts. He is a devout member of our monthly meetings and we were honored that he agreed to speak about his journey from emptiness into being filled with the love of God. He gave an informative and interesting history of the founders of AA. He spoke of the “Angel of AA”, St Bridget Mary Galvin who was born in County Mayo Ireland and moved to Ohio, USA and met Dr. Bob Smith (co-founder of AA). Our friend celebrates 47 years of sobriety and spoke of being a “prisoner of alcoholic thinking” and how “ism (internal soul madness)”led him to the “dark night of the soul” which he describes as the “absence of God and fellow human beings”. He described getting through the darkness by taking his “spiritual antibiotics every day and when you put the inside in order, the outside would follow”. He prays 3 Hail Mary’s to our Lady of Perpetual Help every day. Thank you dear friend for your message of hope and healing. God bless you and your family!
